On 29 October 2025, the Bulgarian Association of Social Entrepreneurs (BASME) was officially accepted as a full member of ENSIE – the European Network of Social Integration Enterprises. The decision was taken during an extraordinary assembly of the organization and marks an important milestone in the development of Bulgaria’s social economy sector.

Membership in ENSIE represents a recognition of BASME’s and its members’ continuous efforts to promote social entrepreneurship, to develop sustainable employment models, and to support the inclusion of people in vulnerable situations. It is also a confirmation that Bulgaria’s social economy is taking its rightful place within the European ecosystem of social enterprises.

As part of ENSIE, BASME will be able to actively participate in European policies and initiatives related to the development of the social economy, while contributing its experience to shaping solutions at the European level. The membership will also ensure broader access to good practices, expert resources, and partnerships with organizations from across Europe.

BASME will work together with the network to strengthen the capacity of social enterprises in Bulgaria, enhance their economic and social impact, and promote the principles of an inclusive and fair economy.

This is a significant step forward for the entire community of social entrepreneurs in Bulgaria and further evidence that the country is actively contributing to the European processes of social sustainability and integration.
